On April 25, 2026, the SheCodes Society at Bina Nusantara (BINUS) University successfully hosted “Intro to STEM” at the BINUS JWC campus, drawing enthusiastic participants from universities across the region. Designed as an accessible entry point into artificial intelligence, coding, and data science, the collaborative event aimed to demystify complex technological concepts for students starting their journey from absolute zero.
Recognizing the growing demand for technological literacy across all academic disciplines, SheCodes Society BINUS structured the curriculum to be highly inclusive and hands-on. By bringing together students from diverse educational backgrounds, the event fostered a supportive ecosystem where attendees could learn foundational tech skills without the intimidation of prior experience requirements.
The intensive workshop series was divided into three primary pillars of modern technology:
- Responsible AI & Basic Coding: Participants were introduced to the fundamentals of Python programming and Machine Learning. A significant emphasis was placed on the ethical deployment of technology, ensuring students understand the principles of building, training, and utilizing responsible artificial intelligence systems.
- Large Language Models (LLM) and Cloud Infrastructure: The session provided a comprehensive overview of LLMs, breaking down the architecture behind today’s leading generative AI tools. Students also explored the critical role of cloud computing in supporting, hosting, and scaling these massive data models.
- Data Visualization in Narrative: Shifting from backend development to data translation, this segment taught attendees how to transform raw datasets into compelling visual stories. Participants learned that effective data visualization is not merely about generating charts, but about crafting a clear narrative that drives informed decision-making.
By providing a welcoming platform for beginners to explore AI, coding, and data, SheCodes Society BINUS continues to actively bridge the skills gap in technology education. The strong cross-university attendance highlights a widespread eagerness among today’s students to embrace STEM, equipping themselves with the vital tools needed to navigate and shape an increasingly digital landscape.
