Binus University Holds Intensive Pre-Workshop on Writing Scopus-Indexed Data Papers for Faculty Members

Binus University, through the School of Computing and Creative Arts, organized an intensive Pre-Workshop on Data Paper Writing aimed at strengthening the research and publication capabilities of its Faculty Members. The event took place on Friday, 28 November 2025, from 14.00 to 16.00 WIB, and was conducted online via Zoom to ensure broader accessibility for participants across departments.

The workshop was led by Ida Bagus Kerthyayana Manuaba, S.T., Ph.D., an accomplished academic known for his contributions to data-driven research and scholarly publications. Serving as the Deputy Head of the Computer Science Department, as well as an author of multiple data papers, Dr. Manuaba brought extensive expertise in the preparation, structuring, and ethical presentation of research datasets.

This pre-workshop was designed to equip faculty members with a strong foundational understanding of what constitutes a high-quality data paper, especially one targeted for Scopus-indexed publications. Participants were guided through the significance of data papers, effective methods to prepare datasets, and best practices to present data concisely, clearly, and responsibly.

Key topics covered included:

  • The role and importance of data papers in advancing scientific knowledge
  • How to organize and document datasets to ensure clarity and reproducibility
  • Ethical considerations and proper attribution in data presentation
  • Techniques for crafting well-structured data papers suitable for reputable journals

The session also emphasized practical workflows and real-world examples, enabling faculty members to translate theoretical understanding into actionable steps for their upcoming publications. As Binus University continues to strengthen its research ecosystem, programs like this pre-workshop serve as strategic initiatives to support faculty development, enhance research quality, and increase the university’s presence in global academic indexing platforms.
