Binus University International Student Wins Best Presenter Award at IBITech 2025

On November 13th, 2025, Ellis Raputri, a Computer Science student from Binus University International (Batch 2027), received the Best Presenter Award at the International Biomedical Instrumentation and Technology Conference (IBITec) 2025. The recognition was granted for her research paper titled “Leveraging Large Language Models for Medical Data Extraction”, presented at the 4th IBITech 2025.

The paper introduces a novel approach for utilizing large language models (LLMs) to automate and streamline patient data extraction. Traditional administrative processes in healthcare often involve repetitive manual input, which is both time-consuming and prone to human error. Ellis’s work demonstrates how modern LLMs can be integrated into clinical workflows to simplify data entry, reduce administrative burden, and support more efficient hospital operations.

The project was conducted in collaboration with Binus University International faculty members Ms. Nunung Nurul Qomariyah and Mr. Feri Setiawan, both lecturers in the Computer Science program. The team also partnered with RSUD Gunung Jati Cirebon, one of BINUS’ established hospital collaborators, which provided real-world datasets and defined the practical research objectives. This partnership ensured that the research addressed an authentic industry need while aligning with modern healthcare digitalization trends.

Ellis Raputri’s achievement highlights the growing contribution of young innovators in bridging computer science and healthcare technology. Her recognition at IBITech 2025 reflects not only academic excellence but also the potential for AI-driven solutions to enhance medical administration and patient care in Indonesia and beyond.
