Binus University International Students Win Top Five Board Game at Baparekraf Tabletop Jam 2024

Two students from Binus University International, Karuna and Maydiane, have made their institution proud by winning a prestigious spot in the Baparekraf Tabletop Jam 2024. Their card game creation, “Capy Race,” was selected as one of the top five board games in the competition, held in Bogor, West Java, in October 6th, 2024.

Organized by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, the Baparekraf Tabletop Jam 2024 was a high-profile event aimed at fostering creativity in Indonesia’s tabletop gaming industry. With 40 participants divided into 20 teams, the competition challenged participants to create innovative board games under the theme “Sweet & Short.”

The event spanned two days, during which participants collaborated in teams of two, working under the guidance of industry professionals. The process culminated in a pitching session, where the teams showcased their board game concepts to a panel of mentors and judges. The evaluation focused on creativity, originality, and execution.

“Capy Race,” a card game designed by Karuna and Maydiane, captured the jury’s attention for its clever gameplay mechanics and thematic creativity.
