Cloud Computing Guest Lecture by Furin Ongko

The Cloud computing trend is real.
You can easily search it on the Internet that Cloud computing will be among the top list of the most in-demand IT skills nowadays.
Read [1] and [2], if you don’t believe it.
Furthermore, during the COVID-19 pandemic, the adoption of Cloud computing surges as stated in [3].
So, as academics, we should also embrace it, like it or not.

On the 12th of Oct, 2021, we held a Cloud computing guest lecture.
The speaker is Furin Ongko, who is now a technical program manager at AWS.
He, first, briefly explained about Cloud computing, i.e., what Cloud computing is and the difference between on-premise servers and Cloud computing.
During the lecture, he also showed a demonstration how easy and quick to leverage an AWS service to host a website and deploy an image recognition software.
Then, he motivated Binusian students to start using Cloud computing as IT industries now are demanding it.
He also showed us a prediction that there will be 59% of digital workers in Indonesia who will have not applied Cloud computing by 2025, while it will be the main requirement by that year.
As a response to that Binus International will run the AWS academy, which is one of AWS education programs.
Students will be given an access to an LMS, where students can watch videos prepared directly by AWS engineers, do lab exercises, and check their knowledge.
By releasing this program, we hope that Binus students can start embarking on adopting Cloud computing throughout their studies in Binus.
