If bigger means better, then the Taman Anggrek Mall certainly takes the cake. The massive complex features the world’s longest LED media facade in the world. So what better place to feature some of the best generative art out there?
The shopping mall’s wall was covered by a giant LED screen as wide as 8,000 square meters and uses more than 3,000 pixels LED. This giant screen made by Iris Worldwide Indonesia was also named as The World’s Largest LED Illuminated Facade by Guinness World of Record, making it the biggest LED display in the world.
In the last few days, there’s something interestingly different displayed in this screen since there are monsters appeared on this screen and interact with each other. Yep, these interactive monsters are the work of Toge Productions, Jakarta-based game developer that was also widely known as Infectonator series creator. Since the middle of last year, they teamed up with Iris Worldwide to create a form of social interaction on the screen to entertain Jakarta citizens that were trapped in traffic jam or just happen to be around the block.
These monsters, which were referred as Taman Anggrek Monsters, were developed by Toge Productions by utilizing prototypes they’ve shown during Casual Connect Asia 2013 and Game Developers Gathering 2013. In the prototype, visitors can post a tweet from their twitter account by using certain hashtag. Not only posting a tweet, the uniquely hashtagged post will ‘summon’ zombies or humans in the displayed game. This concept draws many visitors’ interest to try the game.
