ISCC 2025 – Preliminary Case Study

Theme: Artificial Intelligence

Background

In the near future, cities will rely on smart technologies to solve everyday problems. Artificial Intelligence (AI) plays a key role in making cities safer, cleaner, and more efficient. For example, AI can help:

  • Reduce traffic jams using smart traffic lights.
  • Cut energy waste by predicting electricity usage.
  • Improve waste management by tracking garbage collection patterns.
  • Enhance safety through surveillance and hazard detection.

Case Scenario

Your city has been facing three big problems:

  1. Traffic Congestion – People spend hours stuck in traffic, especially during school and office rush hours.
  2. Waste Overflow – Trash bins in some areas are always full while others are empty, making the city dirty.
  3. Energy Wastage – Many streetlights stay on during the day, wasting electricity.

The city government wants to create a “Smart City AI System” to solve these problems. However, they don’t know where to start — and that’s where your team comes in.

Your Task

As young technopreneurs, your challenge is to design a 5-minute video solution showing how AI could make your city smarter and improve people’s lives. You can focus on one problem (traffic, waste, or energy) or combine all three in one creative solution.

Think about questions like:

  • How could AI-powered cameras or sensors reduce traffic jams?
  • How could AI predict which areas need waste collection first?
  • How could AI save energy by controlling streetlights automatically?
  • How can your idea make the city more sustainable and future-ready?

Deliverable

  • A 5-minute video presentation that explains your solution.
  • Include:
    1. The problem you chose to solve.
    2. Your AI-powered solution.
    3. A simple demo, sketch, or story example to show how it works.
    4. The benefits for citizens and the environment.

Evaluation Criteria

  • Creativity – Is your idea original and exciting?
  • Impact – Does it solve a real and important problem?
  • Clarity – Can everyone easily understand your explanation?
  • Innovation – Does your solution show potential for the future?
