The Role of Artificial Intelligence In Digital Media

In the era of digital transformation, Artificial Intelligence is a popular convergence of digital technologies that are replacing a lot of things to ease humans to do their tasks. As for employee working in the digital media field, AI is considered disadvantageous since it has the potential to replace their jobs. However, AI also plays some beneficial roles in helping people nowadays. Some roles of AI make things convenient and also replace human work in the digital world, such as content creator, automated writer, and enhancing user experience in digital media platforms.

Before AI existed, humans always used software applications to make digital content like digital posters or videos for advertisement or other kind of purposes. They use a mobile editing app for simple edits and a PC or laptop to make complicated and heavy content. However, humans these days have the option to use software or websites to create or edit photos on the internet very easily and fast using AI technology. One of the examples is an application called Vivid AI that could create good-quality images from text. Since this kind of application is rising, some of our old editing apps are forced to join the trend to implement this technology and update their software. Nevertheless, many people recently have been putting interest in the content that is created by AI, which makes people especially social media users use this to make quick content and gain public attention.

As a creator, AI also is a fast writer at making articles, essays, paragraphs, and other word media forms. These AI services are available online and are easy to access. For instance, ChatGPT is one of the popular language processing created by OpenAI, an AI and research company that assists humans in doing tasks in the form of human-like conversations (Ortiz, 2023). Students are known to be active users and are also very familiar with this system. It helps them by providing personalized study support and assistance with difficult subjects and finishing their assignments. However, ChatGPT is usually been used more in writing tasks as it is a helpful tool that can generate words to make phrases based on the given topics or according to the users’ preference. Even though the results sometimes are not accurate or do not provide the things we are looking for, it is definitely a helpful writing tool to use if you wanna save time and create content faster.

Similar to ChatGPT, digital media platforms are leveraging AI by adding chatbot features. Apart from employing chatbots for entertainment purposes, it is a useful tool for other fields such as education, business, and health. Most of the time, chatbots are considered friendly companions with unique names to increase the users’ engagement. Furthermore, it is also common these days because it could reduce service costs and increase efficiency in interacting with many users at once. Social media like Snapchat is one of the examples of an application that employs a chatbot to interact with its users. On this application, they have a chatting feature where we can make conversation with other users, and also with the chatbot they give information regarding features that they updated in the application and send messages to celebrate certain events on a specific day. Therefore, implementing AI chatbots is now crucial for

application developers to increase user experience in using the application while reducing the company’s expenses.

Artificial Intelligence technology is rapidly growing globally which includes its transformation in the digital media area. Although the development of AI can pose threats to the media industry relating to job loss, this technology helps people as artificial creators to make content in many digital media forms such as posters, videos, and articles. Additionally, it also boosts users’ interaction in an application by adding an AI system called chatbots. In the future, AI will continue to grow and it will offer much more convenient services in many other fields including digital media. Moreover, its development will potentially result in people losing their jobs to AI, especially in the digital media industry. Nonetheless, humans and this technology also have many opportunities to collaborate in various tasks.
