Fashion Showcase School of Design BINUS International: A Daring Experiment!
Twenty-three students from Fashion Management and Fashion Design – from the School of Design at BINUS International organized a Fashion Showcase at FX Shopping Centre, Thursday to Sunday, February 14-17, 2013.
Sponsored by Lee Cooper, 50 of the best works from third semester students were displayed. These includes clothing, logos and business plans. Some of the work was also displayed at Jakarta Fashion Week 2013.
The work of BINUSIANs which were displayed at JFW 2013 were inspired by Lombok traditional cloth, a cultural heritage brought into the contemporary design arena. Meanwhile, for the Denim Project, students created their own designs for future trends with denim materials, for instance, with bleaching and embroidery.
“We really appreciated the effort of these students as they experiment with the given materials. All of these show a process, especially because they are not familiar with these materials,”
Students also had the opportunity to ‘tempt’ visitors who wanted to cooperate with them regarding their work. “The exhibition is opening new chances of application in real-life business. BINUSIANs can make their own label when they are still in college or when they’ve graduated,” explained Ratna Dewi Paramita, the program coordinator of Fashion Management. (YD)
