BINUS University International hosted the Youth Across Southeast Asia (YASA) Project 2022. BINUS partnered with Rangsit University, Thailand; Saint Louis University, Philippines and Singapore Polytechnic University. Around 200 students from 4 universities worked together in hybrid mode to create a social campaign video.

Dr. Tatum Syarifah Adiningrum, BINUS Senior Manager Academic Development, officially opened the project on 23 November 2022. Then, Dr. I.G.A.K Satrya Wibawa, Education & Cultural Attaché of the Indonesian Embassy in Singapore, talked about Youth’s Role in Social Issues in ASEAN.  It was followed by two parallel sessions: Understanding your Target Audience by Andari Karina Anom (Communication lecturer) and Country Analysis by Ahmad Seiichi Ramadhan (International Business lecturer).

Ms. Andari Karina Anom is one of the coaches for the YASA project

Students was assigned to select a social problem of one Southeast Asian country and come up with a campaign to raise awareness for a youth audience. During the process, they were guided by coaches, including lecturers from Communication Program.

Each group can choose one of the five topics: youth and inequality (income, gender, education); youth and digital economy; youth and politic participation; youth and diversity; and youth and climate change. In the video, they have to explain the issues in the given country, how young people contribute to the solution, and  what can be done in the future.

In the final stage, the coaches announced two groups as the winners: Thailand 5 and Singapore 6. Two of the members of Singapore 6 group are Communication students Shakilla Ramadhan and Shalomita Warganegara (Binusian 2024). Congratulations!
