Editors Talk #1: Freedom of Speech: Blessing or Curse?

Communications Program, Binus University International introduced a new academic seminar series called “EDITORS TALK”.

The brand new event serves as a collaborative platform between the program and professionals in media industry, giving students an opportunity to learn from the experts.

The first edition of the event hosts Mr. Bajga Hidayat, the Executive Editor of Tempo Magazine to talk about “Freedom of speech: blessing or curse?”. Another speaker, Ms. Santi Zulbachri, the Managing Editor of Elle Indonesia, shares a topic on “The Influence of Korean Wave on Lifestyle trend.

“If we want to move to be a developed country, we need democracy and one of the indicators of (being) democratic country is freedom of speech,” said Bagja.

Bagja added, “the independen media the owner of the media should not be people who have conflicting interest with politics.”

The event runs on Zoom in an engaging session with a number of interesting questions from the participants with Andari Karina Anom, the Head of Program in Communications, as the moderator.
