Webinar: Create Engaging Content with Your Phone

Communications Program of Binus University International hosted Nana Riskhi Susanti, the Head of Multimedia from Tempo Media Group, to deliver an engaging webinar on Create Engaging Content With Your Phone on July 23, 2021. The webinar was moderated by Dian Sarwono, a lecturer in Communication programs.

The webinar begins with a brief introduction to Communications Program at Binus University International delivered by Ms. Dian Sarwono.

Ms. Nana starts her presentation by greeting the audience and asking what social media people use nowadays. She then explains about characters of online audience.

Ms. Nana elaborates that social media users are dominated by Gen-Z and Millenials generation. They have short span of attention which make them reading information on the Internet by scanning. Therefore, they cannot stay loyal to one particular information source or media. They also demand for fast update and recognition of their self-existence. Most importantly, they cannot live without their mobile phone.

The seminar continues with explanation about personal branding. According to Ms. Nana, personal branding helps content creator to stand out among thousands or even millions of other content creators. “To create impactful content on social media, you must build your own personal branding first,” Ms. Nana adds.

She shares a simple way of building personal branding. First, we have to find three to five words representing us professionally. Second, we add another three words showing our personality. Third, we must list at least five top skills that we possess. Once done, we connect all the words and write them into an interesting story.

Another important skill that we need to have as a content creator is storytelling. In journalistic world, storytelling is used to create narrative journalism. As a content creator, someone must know how to deliver their content in a sequence of narratives that people can enjoy.

For that reason, Ms. Nana shares some tips on creating content with a good storytelling. First, create content that is close to our skills or passion. Second, use a specific theme or topics for every content. Third, consistency is a key and therefore we have to frequently post content on our social media.

To create an engaging content, a content creator must use an original angle or perspective, deliver in a series of creative structures, utilize pictures, videos, and audio, and most importantly he or she should maintain interactivity.

According to Ms. Nana, there are 5 important ingredients needed to becoming a successful content creator. They include Content, Clear, Consistent, Comment, and Collaborate. These 5Cs are not complete without a principle that we must create content that “Entertain, Educate, and Inspire.”

This webinar was held in collaboration with Binus Marketing Unit and was attended by around 30 students from high schools and Binus University.
