Communications Class of 2020 in the first online graduation of Binus University International
Jakarta: For the first time ever, Communications class of 2020 Binus University International students joined an online graduation of the 62nd Bina Nusantara University graduation.
Twenty six Communications graduates, consisting of 6 students from batch B2019 and 20 students belonging to batch B2020, just received their symbolic scroll in yesterday’s event on March 31st, 2021 after a year of hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Those 26 graduates were among 6.642 students who were awarded S1, S2, and S3 degree in the solemn graduation with the theme “Global Citizen fro Greater Nusantara.”
Valerie Franklin, The Best Graduate of Communications Class of 2020
Valerie Franklin appeared to be the Best Graduate from Communications program with the Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) 3,64.
She finished her study in 8 semesters in which she also took a one-year exchange program at the Tokyo Metropolitan University, Japan.
Interviewed after the graduation, Valerie expressed: “I feel happy and disheartened at the same time. It’s crazy how fast time flies and how fast things progress in this 4-year time.”
“Even though I’m excited to move forward, however I’m saddened by the unfortunate truth that I’m about to leave a place where I was nurtured, a place where I used to go every day to meet my lecturers and classmates,” she continues.
As happy as Valerie, Michael Emmanuel Apolo representing the B2019 batch expresses the same feeling. “(It) wasn’t as uplifting as the first time I heard the news months ago, but I am excited.”

Telling his unforgettable moments during study in Communications, the Filipino national said, “being able to try new things like broadcasting, being able to fully immerse in Indonesian culture during my dance club days, and crying my socks off when the judges decided to pass my thesis.”
After attending the awarding session in the morning, the graduates joined the afternoon session to hear some farewell messages from all the Faculty Members (FM) of Binus University International.
The session that was hosted by two active Communications students, Krisna Ananta and Puti Alifa Jamaluddin, was attended by all graduates from the Faculty of Computing and Media and Binus Northumbria School of Design (BNSD).

A famous independent singer, Alya Nur Zurayya who is also a Communications graduate performed her single, Dengarlah Rasa, in the event.
Asked about her study experience, she expressed that she learnt a lot from the Communications program tailor-made event Tech Media Talk, a weekly university-industry collaborative program that allows students to learn and practice their skills with reputable media practitioners.
The 62nd Bina Nusantara University graduation is long awaited event by students, parents, and all FMs. After four years of study, students finally reach this achievement that becomes the new start of their life journey.
