Writer’s Week 2020: Creating Content with Web Series

The webinar that took place on the 17th of December was Creating Content with Web Series with Devina Sofyanti, she is a script writer and lecturer in Binus International’s Film Program.

Devina Sofyanti explained that the difference between a web series and a TV series is the duration, the duration for a web series is no longer than 10 minutes and another difference is the financial investment that is put into producing these contents. The financial investment put into making a web series is less because the crew and essentials needed are not as much as when creating a TV series.

Devina mentioned why people are so attracted to watching web series and that it is because of its content and knowledge on the narrative, the structure of narrative is something that everyone experiences subconsciously.

In the current situation, platforms like Netflix and YouTube become very popular applications because most people are spending their times at home, but even now those platforms are able to be accessed outside. So, what are your current favorite web series that you are currently watching?

*Writer’s week is an annual event of Communication Program Binus University International.
