What is a double/joint degree program?

A double/joint degree program is a program that is carried out by two different universities in which the student is expected to complete two programs in a regular time period. The program will allow you to complete a degree from BINUS UNIVERSITY and a degree from a partner university

What are the benefits of a double/joint degree program?

There are several benefits of a double/joint degree program:

  • This will enable you to incorporate different approaches in your study and gain the perspectives of more than one academic advisor.
  • You will be able to see different types of study environments, as well as teaching and learning styles.
  • You will have the opportunity to expand your network.
  • You will get to know different cultures closely, learn about the local customs, and be a member of that community by joining the traditional activities.

What are the challenges of a double/joint degree program?

The challenges of a double/joint degree program are you will have twice the workload and studies in order to successfully complete the two programs in a shorter period. Additionally, differences in education systems may make it hard to adapt and may cause you difficulties, but this will help you to learn how to deal with obstacles and become accustomed to an entirely new environment

What should I do if I’m interested in taking a double/joint degree program?

Register as a BINUS University International student and choose your streaming in the certain semester, and complete all BINUS subjects before you leave

What should I do if I want to choose my streaming?

The streaming selections are done in certain periods. For more information, you may come to the BINUS Student Services, or email: infoservices@binus.edu

If I have failed some subjects, am I still eligible to take a double /joint degree?

If you have any failed subjects you need to retake them in the compact semester before you leave, and please discuss with your head of program

What is the difference between a double/joint degree and study abroad/ student exchange?

The difference is, for (study abroad/student exchange) your study duration is 1 or 2 semesters, and you will not be granted a degree from a partner university while for a double/ joint degree your study duration is 2 to 4 semesters and you will be able to receive a Bachelor’s Degree from a partner university

Which semester should I do my double/ joint degree?

You may check with your study plan in your new binusmaya. Because your departure is based on which streaming that you have choosen

If my child takes a double/joint degree, will he/she still be able to graduate on time?

A double degree will not hinder your child’s ability to graduate on time, as long as he/she passes all the subjects

If I’m taking a double/joint degree, is a thesis still required?

Yes, it is still required. You can do it at a partner university, at BINUS, or an online thesis

Is an academic IELTS/TOEFL IBT compulsory for a double/ joint degree program?

Yes, in some countries and universities an academic IELTS/TOEFL IBT is still required

How long are academic IELTS/TOEFL IBT scores valid?

Academic IELTS/TOEFL IBT scores are valid for 2 years

When do I need to take an academic IELTS/TOEFL IBT test?

We suggest you take an academic IELTS/TOEFL IBT test 1 year before you do your double degree program

Do I have to know the country’s foreign language at the university where I will be taking my double/ joint degree?

No, the program is with instructions providing English language in classes, but we encourage you to learn it for daily conversation

What kind of visa will be required for my double/joint degree?

A student visa is required

Is it possible for me to do a part-time job when I’m doing my double/joint degree?

Some countries permit full-time students to work part-time

Do I still need to make a payment to BINUS if I’m doing a double/joint degree?

Yes, you still need to pay the fixed tuition and development fee (if there is one)

Is the accommodation included with the tuition fee?

No, it isn’t included

Is there any health insurance when I’m doing my double/joint degree?

Yes, there is student health insurance for general practitioners

Is an airplane ticket included with the double/joint degree tuition fee?

No, it isn’t included

Is there any student orientation when I arrive at my double/joint degree university?

Yes, there will be a student orientation

If I cancel my double/ joint degree, will I still be able to join a student exchange program/ study abroad?

Yes, you can still join a student exchange program/study abroad
