Get Ready for Another Bridgerton Fashion
The Netflix’s original series Bridgerton has taking over Instagram couples of months ago and its fashion styles have been a phenomenon that continues to influence today’s style. With its steamy plot lines, gossips, and sensational fashion, the series have resulted on the rise of searches on Regency-era fashion and immediately hailed as a source of aesthetic inspiration. The puffy sleeves, floral prints, and embellished headbands from the 19th century England have inspired numbers of fashion retailers to add a boost into our daily looks after a year of comfort fashion.
Bridgerton was adapted from Julia Quinn’s bestselling novels and the show itself in Netflix has been tuned by more than 63 million viewers. The colourful fashion shown has been a feast to the eyes especially during the pandemic and from couture brands to high fashion retailers have offered the New Regency adaptation perfect for today’s trend. With its visual appeal in fact, Bridgerton’s fashion does not really mimic the Regency London’s style choices back in 1813. Ellen Mirojnick as the costume designer was actually referring to 1950s’ and 1960s’ fabrication, colour palettes, and silhouettes.
With that said, Bridgerton has actually been a source of inspiration although perhaps it might not be seen as an all important source as the continuation of a growing trend. But, revisiting the royal courts of centuries gives a pop of fun to the usual trends. If we look back before the show released, we actually forget the fact that how European influences especially aesthetics have always been enamoured by the fashion industry.
Taking the show as an inspiration, Bridgerton was seen at play in Snow Xue Gao’s Fall 2021 collection. The New York based designer took the 19th century fashion and colours and brought it to the square necklines seen on princess-line corset tops. While in its Fall campaign, Self-Portrait presents Daphne Bridgerton (aka Phoebe Dyvenor) as the face of the brand wearing a series of designs that pay homage to stylish traditions.
Last month Netflix just confirmed that there will be a new season for Bridgerton. The new season will spinoff around the origins and love life of Queen Charlotte with additional spotlight of the young Lady Danbury and Violet Bridgerton. When the day comes, predictably we are all going to expect for another Bridgerton fashion; the sexy silhouettes, playful colours, and dainty floral prints. The fun yet eye pleasing styles obviously are going to capture once again the eyes of fashion enthusiasts and brands. The series’ fashion has been influencing a lot and is made easily adapted to our era, despite the fact it brings back the royal vibes of England’s Regency era — kudos!
