“The Air Swipe Bag” went viral online after Coperni unveiled their new accessory on Instagram. The Air Swipe Bag made its official debut during the brand’s Womenswear Fall/Winter 2024-2025 show as part of Paris Fashion Week. The fashion brand claimed on Instagram that it used NASA-developed nanomaterial ‘silica aerogel’, which is composed of 1% glass and 99% air. It is the lightest solid on Earth and in the past NASA has utilised it to capture stardust. The bag is remarkably delicate and incredibly light, weighting only 33 grams or less than a pound. The designers said that it took 15 prototypes before everything came together, indicating how challenging it was to make the unique product.

The bag’s compact size prompted some to ask about the practicality of the purse in the comments section, writing, “Does it serve the function of a bag tho??” The brand responded by confirming it can hold an iPhone.
