Tasikmalaya, August, 9 – 10th 2022 — A joint project between BINUS Lecturers (BNSD & BINUS@Bandung) and Teach For Indonesia was conducted in SMK Negri 3 Tasikmalaya for community service.

The community service was targeted to 6 vocational high schoolers of SMK Negri 3 Tasikmalaya and SMK Yayasan Islam. They were divided into two groups combining 1 student of DKV, 1 student of Kriya Tekstil, and 1 student of Tata Busana in the pursue of creating a fashion clothing brand and a final line up of two looks ready for marketplace. 

 

On the first day, 6 Lecturers gave lectures ranging from brand concept, trend forecasting, logo & packaging design, textiles, to production. During the textile session, the session was joined by a local UMKM Artisan from Rumah Bordir, Ibu Epi. She gave an insightful knowledge and the real perspective from the industry in regards to Tasikmalaya’s textile and fabric development for modern use. It was then continued with a real hand on experience for the student to try on exploring from initial research to then final outcome.

The second day was the groups’ working day. They each worked on their part for the group’s final outcome. The DKV’s students focused on the branding, Tekstil’s students focused on prints and embroidery development, while Tata Busana’s students focused on the pattern making of their chosen 2 looks.
