JAM by BINUS International Students: A Solution for an Easier Hangout Planning

A team of students developed JAM, an app that simplifies the search for hangout spots, under the guidance of BINUS International’s Entrepreneurship Hub.
Ever struggled to find the perfect hangout spot that suits everyone in your group? You might have to use multiple apps to check reviews and gather more information about a place. Even then, the information might be incomplete, leaving you with unanswered questions.
Understanding this issue, a team of students from BINUS International has launched a startup called JAM, introducing a digital product that simplifies the search for hangout spots—all in one app. How does it work? Let’s get to know JAM better!
What is JAM?
JAM is a smartphone app designed to provide all the essential details about restaurants, bars, cafés, and other hangout spots in a single view. This information includes parking availability, WiFi access, menu prices, accepted payment methods, operating hours, designated smoking areas, links to Google Maps business pages, and official social media or WhatsApp contacts. With JAM, users no longer need to switch between multiple apps just to do their research.
Developed under the startup incubation program at BINUS International’s Entrepreneurship Hub, a group of BINUS International students has spent months working on JAM and successfully launched their startup. Who are they? Here’s the team:
- Jasterina Felipe (Founder & CEO – BINUS International Batch 2025, Communications)
- Jason Ariel Widjaja (Co-Founder & CFO – BINUS International Batch 2025, Business Management & Marketing)
- Coco Lee (Co-Founder & CMO – BINUS International Batch 2026, Communications)
- Nathanael Evandre Anindyo (Creative Designer – BINUS International Batch 2026, Graphic Design & New Media)

JAM’s Vision and Mission
JAM was founded to create a world where every moment brings new opportunities to grow together. Its goal is to foster meaningful connections by offering a seamless platform.
To achieve this vision, JAM aims to simplify socializing and enhance how people connect. The company is committed to developing an innovative mobile app that will revolutionize how friends and communities gather. Through intuitive technology and thoughtful design, JAM helps users create dynamic and personalized hangout experiences tailored to their needs.
“Many people struggle to decide when to go out, how much to budget, where to go, and what time to leave when planning a hangout with friends, family, or colleagues. In reality, making time for each other amidst busy schedules is not always easy,” said Jasterina Felipe, explaining the motivation behind launching JAM with her team.
She explained that some people get frustrated because they have to watch an entire video (on TikTok or Instagram) just to find out the name of a place and its details. Sometimes, the video doesn’t mention crucial information like operating hours or whether the place has a designated smoking area. This lack of information often forces people to check Google Maps for more details manually. That’s why, she added, that JAM was created to solve all these issues in one app.
“Essentially, JAM will create a complete hangout plan for you, and you won’t have to do anything. If you don’t like the plan, simply press shuffle, and the system will automatically suggest other options until you find the perfect spot,” she continued.
JAM’s Future Plans
So far, JAM has officially partnered with 10 businesses willing to feature their locations in the app, including Gelato and Planet Boulder. JAM plans to collaborate with more restauranteurs, influencers, and content creators to promote the app. In return, partnered content creators will receive early exclusive access and boosted post visibility.
Additionally, JAM aims to scale up its app to support higher user traffic by recruiting more tech developers. At the same time, the company is looking to expand its business development team to secure more national and international partnerships. JAM has even identified potential partners in the Philippines to support its future global expansion.
After months of hard work, the BINUS International student team has officially launched JAM—a startup designed to make finding the perfect hangout spot easier. Aligned with BINUS University’s values of empowering society and fostering the nation, this initiative is expected to help people nurture social connections through quality time while increasing exposure for local businesses.
