BINUS International Welcomes UNSW Students with a Vibrant Orientation Day
On the very beautiful and sunny morning of January 16, 2024, BINUS Overseas Program extended a warm welcome to 38 students from the University of New South Wales (UNSW) @Senayan Campus. The UNSW students came to Jakarta to do internship for their Global Business Practicum. The GBP was a part of their curriculum and every year the students who took part will visit many different cities in Asia, and Jakarta was one of the options that they can choose. The diverse group comprised both postgraduate and undergraduate students eager to embark on their journey at BINUS.
The day kicked off with an engaging introduction by MCs from BINUS students; Helsa Cang, representing the communications program, and Brigita Natalie, from the Finance Program, who set the tone with infectious smiles and camaraderie. Following this, Bapak Drs Andreas Chang, the Campus Director at BINUS @Senayan, provided the UNSW students with insights into Indonesia and valuable information about BINUS. The morning continued with an exciting Kahoot session, testing the students’ knowledge acquired in previous session.
A campus tour ensued, offering the UNSW students a glimpse into the facilities and vibrant atmosphere of BINUS. The day further unfolded with two captivating workshops: Tie Dye sessions conducted by the Fashion program team, including Ms Almira, Ms Fika, and Ms Okta, and an Angklung workshops presented by the talented Helsa Chang. These interactive workshops not only showcased the diverse programs at BINUS but also allowed the UNSW students to immerse themselves in Indonesian cultural experiences.
Following a delightful lunch featuring traditional Sundanese cuisine, the guests participated in two enlightening classes. Mr. Marko Hermawan led a session on ‘Doing Business in Indonesia,’ offering valuable insights into the local business landscape. Followed by Mr. Michael Setiawan conducted ‘Bahasa Indonesia untuk Penutur Asing (BIPA),’ introducing the UNSW students to the beauty of the Indonesian language.
As the busy day drew to a close, a convivial dinner awaited the students at Remboelan Restaurant, where they were treated to an array of traditional Indonesian dishes. The evening provided a perfect opportunity for cultural exchange and further bonding among the BINUS and UNSW students.
In summary, the orientation day hosted by BINUS Overseas Program not only served as a formal introduction to the university but also offered a rich tapestry of experiences, blending cultural immersion, educational insights, and warm hospitality. It was a day that undoubtedly left a lasting impression on the UNSW students, setting the stage for a fruitful and enriching academic collaboration between the two esteemed institutions.
