BINUS University’s Exchange Students Experience the Best of Both Worlds

Jakarta, 21 September 2023 – BINUS University greeted its new exchange students on September 20, 2023, with a dynamic event titled “Meet the Faculty – Welcoming Exchange Students Fall Semester 2023.”

The day-long affair aimed to foster connections, introduce students to esteemed faculty members, and celebrate Indonesia’s rich cultural heritage.

The event began with an ice-breaking session, allowing students to forge meaningful connections.

“The perfect opportunity to introduce the diverse culture of our country through fun trivia quiz, savouring our traditional delicacies, and playing the traditional Indonesian instrument, , which is a traditional musical instrument originating from Indonesia, particularly from the Sundanese communities of West Java,” said Dian Sarwono as the Head of Communication Program at BINUS University International.

Students then had the opportunity to interact with distinguished faculty members, creating an environment of approachability and support.

This hands-on experience offered a window into Indonesia’s vibrant culture.

“I had an absolutely fantastic time attending the “Meet the Faculty” event during my exchange in Indonesia! The event began with an informative introduction by the heads of the faculty, which was not only insightful but also engaging. The cherry on top was getting to taste local fruits and food. It was a delightful culinary journey, and I was pleasantly surprised by the flavors and variety of dishes,” said Jean- Baptiste Mercken from ICHEC Brussels Management School.

Interactive games further solidified bonds among the exchange students, creating a close-knit community.

“I really enjoyed the afternoon we had for the meet the faculty event. We had the chance to taste different fruits and Indonesian snacks. My favorite was the lemper, a snack made of glutinous rice filled with seasoned shredded chicken. The games were nice, even if my team didn’t win any it was fun! We also played an instrument, the Angklung which I never heard about before. I got the number 7 which was not useful when we had to play the different songs, but it was nice to learn about a new instrument,” said Ysaline Alfreda Gentges from ICHEC Brussels Management School

The event was more than a welcome; it celebrated diversity, learning, and global unity.
