Thomas Greenough joined Northumbria University in 2006 leaving the commercial world after 10 years, bringing with him both his artistic and professional experience.
I originally joined the University in 2006 as Programme Leader for Multimedia Design, since then you could say I have diversified: I now have three roles in the School of Design: academic, teaching mainly into the Interactive Media Design course; I am also Collaborative Partnership Manager, responsible for the School of Design¹s partners in SE Asia – BINUS International University in Jakarta, Indonesia and Taylor’s University in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; and finally I am the International Business Manager responsible for the People’s Republic of China.
My background is primarily Fine Art: I studied Fine Art at Glasgow School of Art under the tutelage of Thomas Joshua Cooper.
After leaving GSA I worked in the fledgling Internet start-up world. Working with, and finally running web design and software design companies. On our books we had clients ranging from BT and Mastercard to Citizen’s Advice Bureau and Vodafone, from the Liberal Democrats to Musicroom.com to Championship Manager to name a few.
I left the commercial world after 10 years, to join academia in 2005 and have brought both my artistic and professional experience with me.
