Anindia Sukamto, Earning the Highest GPA at 54th BINUS Graduation by Implementing Four Principles

Anindia Sukamto, 22 years old, can’t hide her delight when she was announced as the graduate with the highest GPA at the 54th BINUS International graduation ceremony at Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) on Tuesday (26/7). Graduating from Business Management and Marketing with 3.62 GPA, she managed to claim the highest GPA among 70 BINUS International graduates. However, Anindia doesn’t feel complacent with her achievement as she thinks there are still a lot of things she can achieve and improve to get a better result, as well as to be more productive and help others.

Her great achievement even surpasses her own goal, which is to earn above than 3.00 GPA in every semester and finish her study in seven semester. Yet, she thinks she can do even better and there are rooms for improvement to get a better GPA. In addition, she was also active on campus activities as she was a member BINUS Student Executive Board Stucom for two terms. Her other achievement is when she presented her thesis for proceedings at University of Indonesia and a seminar at Singapore Management University.

To be as successful as she is now, Anindia implemented four fundamental things in her life. First, she is a well-organized person as she sets target that she wants to achieve in every semester. “If I missed my goals, I would double my effort to achieve it in the next term,” she explains. Second, she always set her priorities straight. “I used to choose to do the first thing first,” she said. She also views her study as an opportunity to build her character and convince herself that there will always be new challenges for her.

Third, Anindia always tries to be productive not only in studying, but also in her non-academic aspects. Therefore, she decided to take part in campus and non-campus activities. “From these activities I’ve got lots of valuable experiences,” she adds. Fourth, she focuses on improving herself and doesn’t compare herself with others. “Every individual have their own uniqueness that distinguishes one from another.”

Anindia views study and life at campus as a good opportunity for her to learn how to adapt with new environment. “It was a totally different life than it was before because I met with new friends that I have to be selective with, new surroundings, and adapting with different situations as well as taking part in many interesting and useful campus’ events,” she explains. She adds that the most interesting academic experience is when she joined the Immersion Program. “At the end of 2013, I and other students of Marketing and Accounting program went for an Immersion in Bangkok, Thailand. At that time, University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce (UTCC) became the host for BINUS International. It was my most memorable experience,” she said.

Anindia is currently pursuing her master’s degree at MacQuarie University in Sidney, Australia. She also plans to do an internship while finishing her study. In the future, she wants to establish an NGO with social mission to build a better Indonesia.
