On January 19, 2026, it was a great honor and privilege to lead a group of students from Universitas Kristen Indonesia (UKI) on a visit to the Embassy of Ireland, where they performed a short excerpt from Waiting for Godot by the renowned Irish playwright Samuel Beckett.
Under the gracious hospitality of Her Excellency Ms. Sharon Lennon, Ambassador of Ireland, the Embassy warmly welcomed faculty members and undergraduate students, offering them the opportunity to engage with one of Ireland’s most celebrated literary works. The performance highlighted themes of identity, war, society, and the philosophical dimensions of human existence, while reflecting on humanity’s enduring search for meaning and the common good.
The students performed before members of the Embassy’s diplomatic team, faculty representatives, and invited guests. Following the performance, Ambassador Lennon generously shared insights into her diplomatic career and discussed her role as Ambassador of Ireland to Indonesia, Timor-Leste, and ASEAN, offering students a valuable perspective on international relations and diplomacy.
This experience served not only as an opportunity to appreciate Irish literary culture and history but also as a meaningful source of inspiration and empowerment for young students seeking to engage actively in society and contribute to the common good.
