From Directions to Descriptions: Empowering TMII Staff in Visitor Communication

On December 4, 2025, Paul continued the community development program at Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) by delivering a session to frontline staff on “Explaining Attractions & Giving Directions.” This training was designed to strengthen staff communication skills so they can guide visitors clearly and confidently around TMII’s vast cultural and recreational spaces.
The session focused on three essential areas: describing places, explaining facilities, and guiding visitors around TMII. Staff practiced how to describe attractions in simple, engaging English, making it easier for international guests to appreciate Indonesia’s cultural heritage. They also learned how to explain facilities such as shuttle buses, rest areas, and cultural pavilions, ensuring visitors feel supported and informed throughout their journey.
Interactive role-play exercises allowed participants to rehearse giving directions, such as “The Bird Park is on your left,” or “You can take the shuttle bus to the Palace of Indonesian Culture.” These practical examples helped staff build confidence in using polite and clear expressions while guiding guests. By the end of the session, participants were better equipped to combine hospitality with accurate information, creating a welcoming and professional atmosphere for all visitors.
