Cybersecurity for Business Applications: Futureproofing Organizations, People, and Systems<\/p>\n

Abstract: This talk will explore the impact of recent cyberattacks on businesses and their consequences. Emerging technologies and tools that organisations can use to protect themselves against advanced threats will be discussed. The people aspect will focus on the skills and knowledge needed to make smart technical and business decisions to prevent attacks and succeed as a cybersecurity professional. Regarding systems, the design of modern business applications will be covered, emphasising the importance of distributed and cloud-based architectures. The presentation will review various tools, techniques, and skills crucial for cybersecurity. This talk aims to provide valuable technical insights and practical advice for anyone interested in cybersecurity.<\/p>\n

Gowri is a senior lecturer at the School of Information Systems. He began his career at QUT as a research fellow in the Trusted Networks Lab, School of Computer Science, Queensland University of Technology (QUT), under the mentorship of Prof. Raja Jurdak<\/a>. Prior to joining QUT,\u00a0\u00a0he was a postdoctoral researcher\u00a0at\u00a0Viterbi School of Engineering<\/a>,\u00a0University of Southern California<\/a> (USC), where he was associated with\u00a0Autonomous Networks Research Group<\/a> (ANRG)\u00a0and Center for Cyber-Physical System and the Internet-of-Things<\/a> (CCI) under the mentorship of\u00a0Prof. Bhaskar Krishnamachari<\/a>. Gowri’s research interests are aroundcybersecurity, service computing, IoT, and distributed systems<\/b>, with a focus on problems related to performance, automation, trust, and scalability. He has received best papers awards as an author or co-author at the following venues:<\/p>\n
