Empowering Communities Through Circular Waste Management: A Collaborative Sustainable Workshop
On April 20, 2025, a significant step toward sustainable urban living was taken through a collaborative workshop on Circular Waste Management, jointly organized by Bank Sampah Jaya Danakirti, BINUS Finance International Program, Bank Sampah Le Mineral, and Bank Sampah Kencana Berseri.
The workshop served as a dynamic platform for sharing best practices, fostering partnerships, and exploring innovative solutions to the growing waste management challenges in urban areas. Participants included students, community leaders, sustainability practitioners, and representatives from the public and private sectors.
The discussions emphasized the importance of transitioning from linear to circular waste systems—where waste is not merely disposed of but transformed into resources that can be reintegrated into the economy. Case studies on successful community-driven initiatives were presented, highlighting how localized waste banks, digital tracking of recyclable materials, and inclusive participation can significantly reduce landfill waste and create new economic opportunities.
Students from SMKI Insan Mulia Kab. Tangerang also presented their project prototypes on waste-to-value business models, demonstrating how youth engagement can drive forward-thinking solutions and economic empowerment within communities.
The event concluded with a commitment to expanding the circular waste movement across more neighborhoods in Jakarta and beyond. By integrating education, innovation, and local wisdom, the initiative represents a bold move toward a greener and more equitable future.
Stay tuned as we continue to build a more sustainable city—together.
