BINUS Eco Warriors and JayaDanarkiti Organize Waste Sorting Workshop in Rawabuntu BSD
South Tangerang, Indonesia – June 21, 2024 – In an effort to promote environmental responsibility in the local community, BINUS Eco Warriors, a student group dedicated to sustainability initiatives, organized and attended a waste sorting workshop today. The event was held in collaboration with JayaDanarkiti Waste Bank and supported by the Kelurahan Rawabuntu administration, with the esteemed presence of Bapak Wildan, SP. Secretary of Kelurahan Rawabuntu Tangsel.
The workshop attracted residents from Kelurahan Rawabuntu and students from BINUS University. The engaging session covered various aspects of waste management, including:
- Different types of waste and their proper categorization (organic, recyclable, non-recyclable)
- Practical tips for implementing waste sorting at home
- Benefits of waste sorting for the environment and the local community
Ms. Helda Fachri, an environmental activist and head of JayaDarkirti, delivered opening remarks, emphasizing the importance of waste management for a cleaner and healthier environment. The workshop leaders, Vino, Kenny and Caroline, representatives from BINUS Eco Warriors , then guided participants through presentations, discussions, and demonstrations on effective waste sorting practices.
“Our goal for this workshop was to empower the residents of Kelurahan Rawabuntu with the knowledge and skills to sort waste effectively,” said Vino, a member of BINUS Eco Warriors. “By collaborating with JayaDanakirti and the kelurahan administration, we hope to make waste sorting a regular practice in our community.”
The BINUS Eco Warriors members actively facilitated the workshop, ensuring participants a smooth and informative experience. Residents actively participated in discussions and demonstrations, gaining valuable insights into proper waste sorting methods.
The waste sorting workshop served as a valuable platform for promoting environmental awareness and collaboration between JayaDanakirti, BINUS University and the Kelurahan Rawabuntu administration. By equipping residents with the knowledge and skills to manage waste effectively, such initiatives contribute significantly to a cleaner and more sustainable future for South Tangerang.
