The Effect of Financial Education on Your Dream to Become an Entrepreneur

Binus University International, in collaboration with goKampus, conducted a goTalk session on 24 June 2021 on “The Effect of Financial Education on Your Dream to Become an Entrepreneur.” The speaker of this event was Kevin Susanto, one of our alumni, who currently acts as the Chief Green Officer of EnviGo and is the Co-Founder of Goola & Gaaram.  Kevin was also included in the prestigious Forbes Indonesia’s 30 under 30 this year.

In this session, Kevin highlighted the importance of financial education on his success as an entrepreneur. For example, the accounting and finance knowledge that he got from his study in our program helped him to perform budgeting and forecasting, financial modelling, and breakeven calculations for his business. Having a solid accounting and finance knowledge allows him to master his numbers, which is very useful when pitching his business ideas/ proposals. When asked what the top three skills are to become a successful entrepreneur, Kevin mentioned having good finance skill as the number one priority, followed by good network and communication as well as branding.

What he particularly enjoyed from his study in our program here at Binus International was the close interaction with lecturers that he was able to experience and the chance to build network. Finally, in his opinion, an entrepreneur must be fearless and visionary, and seize every opportunity.
