Greater Nusantara: Binus Scale-Up MSMEs

On 22 April 2021, our program delivered a webinar titled Financial Reporting for MSMEs (micro, small, and medium enterprises), as part of Greater Nusantara: Binus Scale-Up MSMEs project. This webinar was supported by Suku Dinus Perindustrian, Perdagangan, Koperasi, Usaha Kecil dan Menengah, Kota Administrasi Jakarta Selatan. There were around 100 MSMEs domiciled in South Jakarta area that attended this event. In this webinar, the participants were first introduced to the accounting cycle, the importance of financial reporting for MSMEs, then the four different types of financial reports (income statement, statement of changes in equity, balance sheet, and cash flow). Finally, a simple financial statement ratio analysis was discussed. This event was an introductory session of financial reporting with MSMEs, which will be followed by more technical sessions and mentoring to help the MSMEs apply the financial reporting practice in their own business. We hope that through this project, MSMEs can realise the importance of financial reporting and the benefits it brings to their business, such as helping in their decision-making process and the process of seeking external funding.
