Cryptocurrencies Contagion to Financial Market

Cryptocurrency is the emerging digital currency in this digital era. Little research has been done to examine the effect of cryptocurrency to financial market. A recent publication by a group of researchers from Tokyo International University and Bina Nusantara University investigated cryptocurrencies financial contagion in the Asian financial market. They used a sample of five cryptocurrencies and thirteen Asian financial markets. To measure the contagion, three methods were used. The research results suggest that cryptocurrencies do not possess a systemic risk to the Asian financial markets.
