Responding to the world\u2019s pandemic and lockdown series, Dior has made its exhibition Dior: Designer of Dreams<\/i> available to view online since April 2020.<\/p>\n

It was originally held at Paris\u2019 Mus\u00e9e des Arts D\u00e9coratifs from 2017 – 2018 as a tribute on the occasion of its 70th anniversary. The exhibition focused on the designer\u2019s evolution from post war Paris to the present day, embodied in a series of mythical creations imagined by the creative directors who have been at the helm of the French House. Breaking the records of attracting more than 700,000 spectators, the exhibition was then brought to V&A Museum in London in the following year with a more extensive, larger, and enriched by a new thematic space dedicated to Christian Dior\u2019s fascination with British Culture. It was again favoured and broke the records, that the latest exhibition was brought to Shanghai in 2020.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The exhibition traces the evolution of the fashion house from where Christian Dior ushered in the era with his \u2018New Look\u2019 in post war Paris to the present day via the legendary creative directors who have succeeded him.<\/p>\n

The one hour video in YouTube, Dior presents a behind the scenes into the making of the exhibition and a tour to its many rooms. In a documentary format, it follows the exhibition\u2019s curators Florence M\u00fcller and Olivier Gabet putting pieces together for the exhibition in Mus\u00e9e des Arts D\u00e9coratifs. It follows them collating the couture pieces, archival photographs, Christian Dior\u2019s original sketches, objects and accessories alongside the prolific artworks. They explores the connection between the house of Dior and the world of art, the house itself and its collaborators. The documentary also brings us to the house\u2019s history and celebrates its iconic creative directors, revealing some of its most iconic fashions. The exhibition highlights other unforgettable designers who reigned in the legendary house from Yves Saint Laurent, Marc Bohan, Gianfranco Ferr\u0439, John Galliano, and Raf Simons.<\/p>\n

The documentary shows the reveal of Dior\u2019s quintessential 1947 bar suit, which went against the masculine silhouettes during the post war Europe with its curved and elegant shape. Here, M\u00fcller also reveals the influence of Christian Dior\u2019s successors, from the Yves Saint Laurent\u2019s spectacular richness to the dedication to classicism of Marc Bohan and Galliano\u2019s treasure trove of technical imagination.<\/p>\n

It then moves to Gabet exploring the house of Dior\u2019s remarkable works and artefacts. From Louvre\u2019s ancient Egyptian pieces for Galliano\u2019s Spring Summer 2004 collection to 18th century Parisian furniture, paintings and modern works that were featured in Raf Simons\u2019 Dior Couture Fall Winter 2012 collection.<\/p>\n

All of these were brought virtually with galleries of images that allows spectators to get to know the process behind curating the exhibition through Dior\u2019s films.<\/p>\n
