{"id":2362,"date":"2020-11-10T15:13:29","date_gmt":"2020-11-10T08:13:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/international.binus.ac.id\/computer-science\/?p=2362"},"modified":"2020-11-10T15:16:58","modified_gmt":"2020-11-10T08:16:58","slug":"pervasive-computing-state-of-the-art-technology","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/international.binus.ac.id\/computer-science\/2020\/11\/10\/pervasive-computing-state-of-the-art-technology\/","title":{"rendered":"Pervasive Computing: State-of-the-art technology"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Image Source: <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/pcs.tm.kit.edu\/english\/index.php\"><em>https:\/\/pcs.tm.kit.edu\/english\/index.php<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>By: Dr Maria Seraphina Astriani<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Pervasive computing and intelligent multimedia technologies are becoming increasingly important to the <strong>modern way of living<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The main objective of pervasive computing systems is to create environments where computers become invisible by being <strong>seamlessly integrated and connected into our everyday environment<\/strong>, where such embedded computers can then <strong>provide information and exercise intelligent control<\/strong> when needed, but <strong>without being obtrusive<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Pervasive computing involves state-of-the-art technology:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Middleware and programming model<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>Middleware <strong>hides the complexity and heterogeneity<\/strong> of underlying hardware and network platforms.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li><strong>Context-awareness computing<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>Context awareness is a mechanism that assist pervasive application in <strong>adapting their behaviors to the evolving contexts.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li><strong>Resource allocation and management<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>Resources in pervasive systems are limited and heterogeneous.<\/li>\n<li>Efficient resource management policies play a very important role in pervasive computing (and also related to resource allocation).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol start=\"4\">\n<li><strong>Human-computer interaction (HCI)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>HCI provides channels for <strong>people to communicate with digital worlds<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>In smart spaces, HCI marks itself off from tradition interaction with various computing devices (e.g., TV, smartphone, refrigerator, etc.) by <strong>incorporating diversifies interaction modalities<\/strong> (e.g., speech, gesture, face expression, etc.).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"5\">\n<li><strong>Pervasive transaction processing<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide mobile users with <strong>reliable and transparent services anytime and anywhere.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Context-aware transaction model and a context-adaptive and energy-efficient transaction management mechanism (CETM) for pervasive processing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"6\">\n<li><strong>Data mining<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>Current data mining engines are <strong>difficult to use<\/strong>, requiring optimizations by data mining experts in order to provide optimal results.<\/li>\n<li>To solve this problem, by maintaining the functionality of current data mining tools and <strong>adding pervasive characteristics such as invisibility and ubiquity<\/strong> which focus on their users, providing better ease of use and usefulness, by <strong>providing autonomous and intelligent data mining processes<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>References:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Pervasive-Computing-Innovations-Applications-Communications\/dp\/1848825986\">https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Pervasive-Computing-Innovations-Applications-Communications\/dp\/1848825986<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Guo, M., Zhou, J., Tang, F., &amp; Shen, Y.
