Communication

About The Program

Public Relations is the practice of managing communication between an organization or a program and the public. In most cases, the field is concerned with maintaining the public image of high-profile people, commercial businesses and organizations, such as non-profit associations and programs. This stream is part of the Communication program; therefore, it provides courses that are also useful for the Advertising and Journalism streams.

Advertising is a form of communication intended to persuade the public (readers, listeners or viewers). Advertising persuades by using mass media forms such as the printed newspaper, brochures, magazine articles, radio, television, and the Internet. Advertising can be used for commercial purposes to encourage people to purchase products and services or for social purposes to take action on ideas.

Journalism is the investigation and reporting of events, issues, and trends to a broad audience. Besides covering organizations and institutions such as government and businesses, journalism also covers the cultural aspects of society such as arts and entertainment.
