Open Government Indonesia Launches ‘In.CoDe’ Platform to Boost Indonesia’s Development
Jakarta. Open Government Indonesia, an initiative dedicated to strengthening ties between the Indonesian public and the government, launched In.CoDe, a platform for collaborative works between the two in Jakarta on Tuesday (09/02).
In.CoDe encourages any organization, including educational institutions, to submit their ideas on how to boost development in Indonesia through the use of technology. Ideas for development in Indonesia may cover issues such as the management of natural resources or ways to boost accountability for members of the House of Representatives.
Any interested party who would like to participate may visit the In.CoDe website and submit a 500-word proposal to explain their ideas. The top-ten pitches will then be selected and selected parties will be invited to an event in Jakarta in April where they will be given awards. Selected parties will also be as given the opportunity to promote their proposals to an audience which consists of corporations, donors and government representatives.
“In.CoDe functions as a public service in Indonesia,” said Geafaany Presentha Nasution from OGI.
At present, OGI is also in the midst of setting up a program consisting of workshops with ministries and government bodies to promote their development based on ideas submitted by the public, Geafaany explained.
OGI is a platform that encourages partnership between the government and the public, as coordinated by the the office of the president, Ministry for National Development Planning, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, along with representatives from non-governmental organizations such as Indonesia Budget Center (IBC), Indonesian Parliamentary Center (IPC), Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW), International NGO Forum on Indonesian Development (INFID), Indonesian Center for Environmental Law (ICEL) and Transparency International Indonesia (TII).
The In.CoDe platform is a collaboration between OGI and The Asia Foundation, Australian Aid, British Council, AmCham Indonesia, Twitter, Google, Pulse Lab Indonesia and Binus International School.
