JOVED (Java Overland Varsities English Debate) is the most prestigious debate competition in National Scale. This year JOVED was held at Universitas PGRI Semarang from June 20th until June 24th 2014. There was 42 teams that compete in this competition. UB only sent one team this year, consist of Nadya Ayuning Wuryanto (TI ’10), Muhammad Fahri Akbar (FEB ’11), & Zelly Sidi Zamzami (FEB’11). They made clean sweep, perfect VP and broke first in that tournament after defeating powerhouse teams such as UGM, ITB, and UI. They made their way until final, this was the first time UB proceed into final in classic tournament. In final they met Binus International (Melisa Irene, Wilson Salim, & Gierdino Julian) which also haven’t won JOVED before. After a very close debate and split decisions 4-3, Binus International became The Champion of JOVED 2014 while UB came as the 1st runner up. We hope in the next competition UB will become The Champion. Keep the spirit guys.
