Tougher job competition has led to the Student Alumni Global Employability (SAGE) department equipping students with skills to prepare to enter the workplace, especially in the fields of banking and finance, by holding Banking & Financial Week 2014.  Banking & Financial Week 2014 took place at the Joseph Wibowo Center from March 17 to 21. The event hosted several multinational corporate partners, such as BII Maybank, Bahana Sekuritas, DBS, Standard Chartered and HSBC.  Henrieko, the Alumni & Corporate Relations Coordinator, said that the event was aimed at introducing students to the workplace. “They need to have their minds opened. Students don’t tend to think too far into the future. The students that we have invited here are in their fourth, fifth and sixth semesters, as well as some fresh graduates.”  The Banking & Financial Week 2014 was composed of two sessions. The first session was the company outlook from each respective company. The second session was focused on student development of such soft skills as basic work skills, team work skills, interpersonal skills, basic trade knowledge, interview skills, and soft skills training in career preparation.  In relation to the event, Henrieko said that he had received feedback, including the hope that such events could be held regularly. “As for the next event, we could feature a different industry, such the advertising industry,” said Henrieko.
